On August 8th, Caroline John and Peter Stewart (Members of our Anti-Social Behaviour Sub Committee) had a valuable and instructive Meeting with the Shrewsbury Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team – Inspector Ben Tanfield and Sergeant Gary Lansdale.
The meeting covered a wide range of pertinent issues and both Police Officers engaged in an impressive Presentation and answered a number of detailed Questions pre-submitted by the Sub- Committee.
It is hoped to arrange an open Residents Meeting which Inspector Tanfield and Sergeant Lansdale can attend in the New Year.
On September 5th Peter Stewart, Christopher Bibb and Caroline John attended a meeting at Monkmoor Police Station with the Police and Crome Commissioner for West Mercia John Campion, Chief Inspector Graham Preece and Sergeant Gary Lansdale.
The Sub Committee had prior to the Meeting sent a Number of detailed Questions to the PCC and these were all discussed .
One of the principal concerns raised was the lack of a Police Station or Base in the Town Centre. This topic was to be followed up by information being supplied by the PCC.
It was learned that 11 Town Centres in West Mercia (one being Shrewsbury) were being granted increased manpower resources this month although this had already occurred in Shrewsbury.
There was a well-attended public meeting hosted by the PCC at the Theatre Severn on September 26th which STCRA notified members about by email.
